What we do

WEN is more than just a social club – as future engineers, we’re also reaching out to make positive contributions in our communities.

    Mentoring

The WEN Mentoring Programme connects undergraduate female students from the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Engineering with industry partners. Mentors are sourced from the programme’s sponsors, the WEN sponsors, and alumnae.

The objectives of the programme are to:

    • Facilitate a mentoring relationship between undergraduate students and industry members
    • Develop good techniques for an effective mentoring relationship that can be continued throughout an individual’s career
    • Provide professional development for both mentees and mentors through a series of events held throughout the year

    Outreach

WEN’s Outreach Programme seeks to engage female high school students in workshops to showcase engineering. This includes helping students understand what engineering is, what it looks like in the real world, how fun it can be, and where it could one day take them.

The aim of the programme is to encourage and inspire female students to consider and hopefully one day pursue a career in engineering.

    Equity

WEN Equity committee looks to broaden the conversation WEN has with other university clubs and organizations. The equity committee runs our WEN Allies group which is for everyone interested in supporting WEN and other diverse groups.

    Events

WEN runs a number of events throughout the year focused on community building and professional development.
